It was important that all classrooms, the hallway and the teachers' workroom have natural lighting and Kindergarten classrooms each have a refrigerator and share three training kitchens. A student pick-up and drop-off drive was built so all the younger students can be in the same area. The entry is obvious to visitors and the use of color brightens the school site. The landscaping around the building has native plants that can thrive in a dry climate. The tot lot is located on the east side of the building away from the street and close to the schools play equipment area.
