Marisa has a diverse background ranging from working in construction, managing solar projects, to making adobes while being a teaching assistant for an Alternative Materials + Construction class at UNM. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and is set to complete her Master of Architecture degree and Historic Preservation + Regionalism certificate from UNM in May of 2022. She is currently the treasurer of the Tao Sigma Delta honor society and a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
Growing up in the South Valley, Marisa has deep roots to family, culture, and tradition, her time at UNM has allowed her to work towards projects that suggest and promote the preservation of culture and tradition in order to empower and educate our youth. She plans on becoming a licensed architect and mentor in order to better be involved in communal projects that encourage preservation of historical buildings, methods, and stories. On the weekends you can find Marisa running, gardening, making adobes or mud plastering, or in the kitchen pickling veggies from the garden.
