Hawthorne Elementary School Cafeteria / Kitchen Addition
A new Cafeteria/Kitchen was anticipated nearly a decade previous as part of the Multi-Use Facility in our master site plan for the school. The first phase of the facility, the Mini-Gym Building, was completed in 2000, and designed with a long, concrete beam on the north wall to accommodate a future folding door between it and the future Cafeteria/Kitchen Addition. Now that the Addition is in place, the folding door can be opened allowing for all-school assemblies.
The dining area seats 220 students at one time. The Kitchen was designed to be a full service kitchen and equipment was selected with the full involvement of the APS Food and Nutritional Services staff.
Hawthorne gained a new Cafeteria/Kitchen as well as an assembly space, meeting the needs of the school programmed in 1998.
